White Marble Kitchen Countertop

Replacing only the countertop without renewing the whole kitchen is one of the most requested jobs. In the first piece shown here a white marble top was fitted to a kitchen whose timber cabinets were kept: the cabinets stayed in place, measurements were taken from the real dimensions of the existing carcasses, and removing the old top and installing the new one were completed in the same day.

On long runs the end detail changes the look. The end of the top in the second image was turned with a radius, and a strip of the same stone was bonded underneath to form a laminated edge, so a thin slab reads as a thick mass. In the third image a double-bowl stainless sink was bonded beneath the same slab — cut-out edges polished, tap holes drilled in the workshop.

White marble expands small kitchens and gives light back, but because it is the most used surface in the house the finish decision matters. Polished shows the vein clearly; honed hides local etching and fingerprints, so it stays looking cared-for longer in busy kitchens.
